Manufacture and Sale of Sandwich Panels PUR/PIR

Our PUR / PIR Sandwich Panels consist of two sheets of pre-painted galvanised steel, from 0.38 mm to 0.60 mm thick with a polyurethane (PUR) or polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam core at a density of 36-40 kg/m3, manufactured in two continuous production lines. The characteristics of PUR / PIR Sandwich Panels are closely linked to chemical processes in polyurethane (PUR) polymerisation: When the chemical reaction finishes, the polyurethane foam contains millions of irregular cells that provide the thermal insulation, resilience, acoustic, etc. properties. The thermal insulation capacity of polyurethane derives for the gas trapped in the small, closed cells in the polymer fabric. This means that 30-60 kg/m3 polyurethane foam gives high thermal insulation. One type is PIR polyurethane foam, whose chemical composition behaves better for fireproofing and is classed Bs1d0.

PUR / PIR Sandwich Panels are used especially in modular building, prefabricated houses, industrial and agricultural premises, also in special cases in traditional construction. The most frequent uses of PUR /PIR Sandwich Panels in building are:

  • As thermal insulation in roofs and façades, also in false ceilings and air chambers in plumbing frameworks.
  • As a light, economical material for rigid enclosures in roofs, façades, false ceilings and interior partitions.

Assembling PUR / PIR Sandwich Panels on any metal, wooden, brick or concrete support is easy because it is light and easy to assemble for both roofs and façades. Façade panels can be fastened in two ways: With visible or invisible fastenings, without thermal breaks in both cases.

The main advantage of using PUR / PIR Sandwich Panels compared to Rock Wool Sandwich Panels are, among others:

  • Presentan un mejor aislamiento térmico, lo que lo convierte en la solución idónea para el aislamiento térmico de fachadas y cubiertas en todo tipo de edificios
  • Better thermal insulation, making it the ideal solution for heat insulation in façades and roofs in all types of agricultural or industrial buildings, in modular construction and prefabricated houses, etc.
  • They are lighter and, therefore, easier to assemble, while also being long-lasting due to the properties of polyurethane, which is highly durable and inert, does not rot and is damp-resistant.
  • It enables façade panels to be fixed invisibly, giving the look of a smart building.

The main disadvantages of using PUR / PIR Sandwich Panels compared to Rock Wool Sandwich Panels are, among others:

  • The soundproofing is inferior to that of Rock Wool Sandwich Panels.
  • Polyurethane foam is flammable, although this can be reduced with additives to class Bs2d0 for PUR, and Bs1d0 for PIR
